This particular sculpture is a windswept style on driftwood. The piece is handmade of approximately 1400 feet of aluminum wire on a treated driftwood base. The single bundle of wire consists of approx. 400 individual strands of wire of various gauges, each measuring 42 inches in lenght. Once each stand is cut to the 42 inch length, the 400 strands form the core bundle of wire. The bundle is then hand twisted into the desired shape of the tree and roots. The twisted wire forms the individual branches with foliage and the roots. The tree foliage is created by using different sized rods utilzing a specialized technique. Once the tree and roots are formed it is mounted on the driftwood base using permanent glue. The dritwood base is first prepared and treated with a resin before the tree/roots are afixed to the driftwood. To enhance the beauty and dimension of the dritwood base, smaller pieces of driftwood are added. The sculpture is approx. 12 inches tall, 23 inches wide, 9 inches deep and weighs approx. 10 pounds.
