This wire bonsai is sculpted using approx. 1400 feet of aluminum wire of various gauges (approx. 400 individual strands of wire, each at approx. 42 inches in length). The 400 individual strands are grouped together to form the single bundle of wire. This bundle is hand twisted to form the tree and roots of the sculpture. The upright tree/root design is then mounted/glued on a piece of lava rock and wood base (Mexican Monkey Ear wood). Additional, smaller pieces of the lava rock are added to the main rock and wood base to create a more realistic and interesting sculpture. The lava rock was obtained from the Central California Coast. This particular sculpture measures approx. 23 inches tall, 14 inches deep, 13 inches wide and weighs approx. 18 pounds.
