WIRE BONSAI #13

$3,800.00

This sculpture is an upright design on a treated piece of driftwood. The tree, foliage and roots are formed from a bundle of approximately 400 strands of aluminum wire of various gauges for a total of approximately 1400 feet of wire. Each of the 400 strands is approximately 42 inches in length. The sculpture measures 28 inches wide, 18 inches tall, 11 inches deep and weighs approximately 9 poounds. The bundle of wire is hand twisted into the upright tree and roots. The foliage of the tree is formed by rolling each wire using various sized rods. The roots are formed by twisting the lower part of the bundle of wire to simulate the root structure. Once the tree, foliage and roots are completed, the tree is mounted to the driftwood base by the use of permanent glue. This process is very maticulous and requires the use of weights and clamps. The driftwood base is prepared by a thorough cleaning, wire brushing and completed with a strong resin coating which adds stength and a rich color to the driftwood. The contrast between the dark, satin driftwood finish and the aluminum wire makes a visually beautiful and detailed sculpture. Additional, small pieces of driftwood are added to the base to create a more natural and interesting finish to the sculpture.

In all of the sculptures the photographs do not do them justice as to the detail and unique beauty of each piece.
