This sculpture is a windswept design. It is created out of approximately 1350 feet of aluminum wire of various gauges. Approximately 390 individual strands are cut to specific length and then gathered into a single bundle. The bundle of wire is then meticulously hand twisted into the desired form of the tree/roots. Once the roots, trunk, and branches are formed, the foliage on each branch is created by using various sized rods to curl and then uncurl the wire on each branch. Once the roots, trunk, branches and foliage are created, the sculpture is then ready to mount on the pre-selected, treated piece of driftwood. The tree and roots are securely fastened to the driftwood base using added strength, clear glue. Addtional, smaller pieces of treated driftwood are added to create a more natural, realistic and interesting piece of art sculpture.
The piece is approximately 26 inches wide, 12 inches deep, 12 inches tall and weighs approximately 11.5 pounds.
