This particular sculpture is uniquely mounted on a rock which has had a large portion of the main rock removed and then replaced after the tree/roots have been mounted.. This gives the illusion of a the roots of the tree actually splitting the rock surface and creating a fissure in which the roots can grow. The sculpture is comprised of over 400 individual strands of aluminum wire at a length of approx. 43 inches each. At least 2 different gauges of wire are used. This equates to over 1400 feet of aluminum wire. The bundle of the 400 strands of wire are hand formed into the desired tree/root structure. Once the tree/foliage and roots are formed the sculpture is maticulously mounted on the rock main rock. The rock with the sculpture is then mounted onto a piece of treated Monkey Ear wood from Mexico. Additonal, smaller pieces of the rock are mounted on the sculpture to create a more natural and realistic visual representation. The sculpture is approximately 28 inches tall, 13 inches wide, 14 inches deep and weighs approximately 23 pounds.
